Before Y2K

1999, the year CampingCot.com launched as an online cot retailer. The internet boom was in full swing, even in the backwoods of Alabama.

The world has changed since then, cell phones don't need buttons anymore, Ai now creates art and music, and the Red Sox have won a World Series.

In honor of our heritage, here are some events that happened in 1999.

  • January - President Bill Clinton was impeached and "Family Guy" airs on Fox.
  • February - Clinton is acquitted and Eminem releases "The Real Slim Shady LP"
  • March - The Matrix premiers and The Melissa virus his Microsoft (IYKYK - If not, don't ask.)
  • April - Alibaba is launched
  • May - "Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace was released.
  • June - Tony Hawk lands a 900 for the first time in a competition.
  • July - Lance Armstrong wins his first Tour de France (with a little help.)
  • August - Michael Johnson breaks the 400 m world record with a time of 43.18 seconds.
  • September - Tony Hawk Pro Skater and Fight Club are both released. What a great month!
  • October - The 6 Billionth person is born
  • November - Dr Dre releases "The Chronic 2001"
  • December - University of Alabama beats Florida for the SEC Championship

Oh, and spoiler alert, the whole Y2K thing, not a big deal at all.

Honor the past, plan for the future, live in the moment and Sleep Happy.
